Create New Page

In Dokuwiki there are several ways to Create a new page.

By using the Browser URL

When logged into Opencpn Dokuwiki (Owiki) Navigate, using your Browser, to the parent namespace of the page you wish to create. For example the url might show:

opencpn:opencpn_user_manual:getting_started:opencpn_installation

and we would like to add another page about Linux Installation named “linux”. We would just add “:linux” to the end of the URL and hit enter.

http://tgp-architects.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn:opencpn_user_manual:getting_started:opencpn_installation:linux

  1. At that point the Dokuwiki will start a new page by stating that “That page does not exist. Do you wish to create it?”
  2. Hit “Yes” and
  3. Add the indexmenu sort code {{indexmenu_n> [Sort_Number] }} one the first line and

then on the second line add the title, such as ====== Linux ======

  1. Then “Save” the page, and make sure it was created in the location intended.

Most of the pages you see here have been created by this technique. Currently most of them are empty, ready to receive the “Copy and Paste” from the original Drupal website. To create a new page when in “DW Edit” Dokuwiki Editor mode simply enter DW Edit mode in the parent page and add an Internal Link to the new page. See DokuWiki syntax Internal Links https://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:syntax

Internal links are created by using double enclosed square brackets, full pathname with : delimiters ending with the new page name, underlines for spaces, no caps. To change the Text that shows use “|” followed by the text.

These will look like this, respectively

One of these links has nowiki tags %% Tagged Item %% When the link is shown in red, the page does not yet exist. If you click on the page, you will be prompted to create a new page, and it will be opened so that you can edit it and then save it. Pay attention to the path and where it is being saved!
